>>Will America accept China or Russian missiles in Canada or Mexico?
And there aren't any in nations neighboring Russia - not even the NATO members. NATO's specifically a *defensive* alliance. Ex-Warsaw nations pushed in because they didn't have faith in Russia not attacking them. Now Sweden and Finland are doing the same - for the same reason. Gotta wonder who is doing the imposition of conditions.
As far as preventing WWIII, if Russia can ignore the agreement they made to protect Ukraine's borders in return for giving up its nukes - and use their own nukes as blackmail to keep the other signatories from stepping in - do you see any other nation giving up their nukes? If anything, small nations bordering other nuclear powers are going to be desperate to get their own nukes, making an eventual nuclear interchange more likely, not less.
I don't disagree on Versailles being the 'seed' for war in Europe, but once Germany had taken a number of nations should the remaining ones have simply negotiated, for the sake of 'peace for our time'?
Moral imperatives to the side, bleeding Russia to the point that it's incapable of invading another country is to NATO's advantage - so there's little reason to pressure Ukraine to give Russia territory (and a push to not do that from the ex-Warsaw nations).
Russia might even change from an empire to a normal nation that the rest of the world doesn't have to distrust so much
