When this whole thing happened (actually, when the first community-spread infection in WA was reported, which made it clear that things were going to get out of control) I bought one of those thermometers that you put in your ear, rather than a forehead one (I’ve since read that those become more accurate when pointed exactly at the temporal vein rather than just the forehead in general).

I’ve been taking my temp twice a day, just to make sure I stay away from people as soon as I show any symptom. But here’s the thing: my normal temp centers around 96.8F, not 98.6F, so if I’m as high as 99, I’m running a fever. I’m sure I’m not the only person who runs a bit cooler than normal.
