This is the puzzle, isn't it?

Non-female non-researcher here, but it's pretty clear that the world of research is filled with misogyny, in the sense of women researchers not getting credit for the work they've put in and the discoveries they've made.

I'm not saying that that's what happened, but a few more clues as to what actually did in this case would have been helpful.
