It's a little surprising how few people are aware of that. At the time, I think it was a matter of getting rid of Prussia, what people thought of as 'ground zero' for the beginning of two world wars and people not having a lot of sympathy for the Eastern Germans being forced to leave. And Poland got forgotten again. Not our proudest history.
