Want to support the troops? These days, the best way seems to be to find a local organization that helps wounded vets — and get involved. Whatever bargain we as a nation made with members of the armed forces, we are very much not holding up our end, particularly for men and women who have been hurt doing that job “for us” (whether we feel we’ve asked them or not).

Unfortunately, there have been some scam for-veterans charities on the national scale, which if why I’m suggesting local charities. Not sure where to find them? I started at the local VFW, a bit hesitant as I wasn’t a veteran, but they were glad to point me to a couple of local organizations doing good work — and it turns out that that chapter was doing so as well.
