Very cool site!

Sadly, I live at the edge of one of the reddish blobs (Boston exurb). Interesting that there's so much NO2. I know is that it's the result of combustion under pressure. Mostly internal combustion, but power plants, too (BTW, did a HS science project generating electricity from plasma (moving conductor) - like coming out of a turbine - back in the 60s)

I'm guessing your point is that there's hardly any NO2 in TX, so not much in the way of power plants running, yes?
