To the extent that it's a direct effect I have to wonder if it's via cortisol as high cortisol can raise insulin.
That wondered about, very much off topic I have been much enjoying Philip Ball's "How Life Really Works", which is about a lot of things having to do with how eucaryotic cells work. I recently googled the author and title to see if there was a community of people discussing the book. Turns out he was diagnosed with prostate cancer just as his book was going to press, and he wrote something IMO beautiful about his views on that. https://nautil.us/how-life-really-works-435813/ Very much worth a read, particularly for anyone involved with cancer and interested in how cells work. Oh, and the book is specTACular. Although I found myself having to learn how liquid phase separation works (fortunately there's a really good explanation here: https://www.annualreviews.org/docserver/fulltext/cellbio/30/1/annurev-cellbio-100913-013325.pdf?expires=1740423497&id=id&accname=guest&checksum=B92DFB37DDC8CCA312782A597B6B0D7C
Apologies for the off-topic clutter
