I think it's more "they'll come for our jobs". Not a ridiculous fear for someone stuck in a lower-level job - particularly as there are Republicans telling them that they're stuck because of immigrants (well, and 'librul' folks like you and me).

There's a worker shortage now, which might change that dynamic
