There's cadmium in a lot of cacao even before it gets fermented or goes through the 'Dutch' process. As I understand it, the cacao 'tree' will take up any cadmium in the soil - and the soil in some parts of Latin America. If you consume cacao, it's worth doing a bit of research. (here's a list of some with low levels). Also Navitas had high levels reported in Consumer Labs. I don't subscribe to CL, so this is second hand; the person mentioning it published their response that said the product was low in lead. OK, fine but the question posed was about cadmium. I ended up tossing the packages we had in our pantry.
If you eat milk chocolate, there's very little cacao - I'd be more concerned about the sugar.
