There's also the megadrought going on in the Southwest and forest fires in the West / Northwest.

If I lived in any of those areas, I'd be looking at the southern shores of the Great Lakes where there's plenty of water, and the worst weather is lake effect snow (not good - I've been in whiteout conditions - but not as bad as having to evacuate on short notice or no water or an Atlantic hurricane.)
