I disagree. We can produce it ourselves, but quite a few of us are poor methylators (that MTHFR you've been hearing about) - and making it uses up methyl groups. Taking it pre-made means They can be used for something else.
Also, I've seen at least one study in which taking it slows or reverses sarcopenia (age related muscle loss).
