The real question is what 'difficult to source' elements does it need? For instance, Li batteries need cobalt which mostly comes from the DR Congo. I wouldn't normally put 'DR Congo' and 'stability' in the same sentence (although I seem to have just done so).

Also: an ion is not an atom with no electrons. I see there's already a response with the details, so I'm removing that part of mine.
