Speaking of small hacks that lower LDL cholesterol, there's berberine (available as a supplement). It does some potential longevity-improving things similar to metformin, which I won't get into but it's also a PCSK9 inhibitor.

It works like this: there are LDL interceptors in liver cells that sweep LDL particles out of the bloodstream. PCSK9 degrades those interceptors, so if you inhibit it the interceptors stay active longer, meaning there are more at any one time, and so pulling more LDL out of the blood.

There's a catch: this only works for some people, and the test to see if you are one of them is expensive. but you could just start taking some berberine, say, a month before your annual checkup, and if your numbers show a marked improvement - congratulations, you've found something that works for you.

As I keep saying, I'm not a pro, just an interest and decent reading comprehension, so go do your own research (legit science publications, not social media) before you take anything. Here's one to start: https://www.jbc.org/article/S0021-9258(19)46995-0/fulltext
