Side note: The WaPo is running a really good series on the "Road to War in Ukraine". The first part (out today) goes through what the US was doing to dissuade Putin and get Europeans to pay attention to their assessment that the troop movements observed were not simply bluffing to get a better diplomatic agreement, but actual preparations for invasion. Worth a read. I tracked it as it was happening but this does a better job of laying it out in one place (as you'd expect: the authors have the newsroom available, and hindsight is 20-20).
WaPo is paywalled, but if you sign up for an account and then sign in, you get some number of 'free' articles per month.
