Russia doesn't have a free press, so all she can do is lurk Telegram groups and try to read the tea leaves. I think that might be the most anyone can do from the outside.

I know you didn't ask me - but I don't hate Russia. I hate what it's been doing, and I'm fully on board with my tax dollars going to send weapons systems to get the invaders out. I'm also a bit appalled at the "Ukraine isn't a nation, Ukrainians aren't a real people" that I get from some Russians. But you're not one of those people, so thanks for that.

I don't think she's doing this for money, it seems to be more of a passion project (something I used to do in code alongside my day job - I can see a writer doing similar.). But I should let her answer for herself.

BTW, are you safe from the general mobilization that now seems very probable? I've seen mention of 300K women as well in the Western press. Probably not true, but I take it to mean that even the well-connected in Russia are not safe.
