Race itself may be a myth

Agreed that it is. A myth created by people holding other people in bondage and pretending that those people in bondage were not actually people - because of 'race'.

Using 'White' or 'Black' to describe someone makes me feel that I've bought into 'race'. I have particular issues with capitalizing the 'W' in white. There is no 'White race' - because race is a (IMO evil) made up thing.

If you want to call yourself 'Black' that's fine by me. I'd just rather not be putting it on you. 1) I have no right and 2) race is BS

Update: replying inline as Medium doesn’t allow non-article responses to be responded to.

I understand the hesitation, but I think if you ask Black people almost all of them will agree. You wouldn’t hesitate to describe someone using other descriptive language presumably. Saying someone who identifies as female is a woman isn’t generally seen as bringing gender in to the conversation unless it is done in a way intended to demean women. It’s the same with being Black and using the adjective Black.

Gender is not a made up thing. Race is, and seems to have been invented specifically to justify our caste system.
