One of the companies I worked at had a lot of ex-military types. People I worked with included a number of Boomers, one A-10 driver and one IO (backseat guy). When I asked for details on 'interesting' things they'd been part of they'd often say "I can't tell you but here read this it's damn close" and hand me a Clancy novel. This was pre-USSR collapse. His work kind of took a dive post Cold War.
