They have good reason. Nikon has paid a lot of attention to how the camera fits the hand (the reason I ended up with a F100 long ago) and usability. They've had a good range of quite good lenses and haven't changed mounts until quite recently. I'm still using AI lenses I bought in the 80s. Their pro and prosumer bodies let you control everything with the camera up to your eye or in the dark without menu-diving. Chuckle all you want - I'm still getting decent shots.

The D750 being very good at low light doesn’t hurt, either…

All that said, I’ve probably spent more on Fuji film (Velvia, mostly) than I have on Nikon bodies… :-)
