Once you've got a NAS, why stop at one. If you have a friend/relative you can set them up with one as well - and sync backups between the two (yours to them, theirs to you). Then you always have a relatively fresh offsite backup - that's actually off your site.

If you have a home network and are backing up to a NAS, check out Veeam's EndpointBackup. It's free, uses a modest amount of space (reverse differential storage) allows single file/folder recovery and you can set it to back up with a different set of credentials, meaning if you get hit with ransomware and you only have RO access to the backups, it cannot scribble over those. It's also pretty straightforward to do a bare-metal recovery (including generating a boot USB stick). My PC takes a couple of hours for a full recovery, but I've about 1.75TB in files (mostly photos) on it.
