OK, so take that peanut butter jar down off the shelf and look at the ingredients list. Does it list anything besides "peanuts" or possibly "salt" or "peanut oil"?

It might list something like "dextrose" - which is another name for the simple sugar glucose.

The good: it's not fructose, won't trigger that uricase issue we humans have.

The bad: it will bring your blood glucose level up, so diabetics be aware.

I'm aware of this because my dad had T2DM. He had some issues maintaining glucose levels, so I went through his cupboards, looking at ingredients - found this in his peanut butter (also cheap "soy sauce" which was basically salted, colored caramel water). Grrrrr!

BTW, if you're within their distribution region (New England?) Teddie peanut butter has a sort ingredients list. For unsalted, it's "peanuts", for salted, it's "peanuts, salt"
