If they've lost the high ground, and so can no longer inflict the same damages for each meter lost, it does now seem pointless. It might be time to let the RF have their empty for-PR victory here.

On the other hand, the point might not have been only to inflict as many RF losses as possible but to hold as many RF forces in place as possible - so there might still be a reason to hang on.

Just thinking it through... Glad I don't have responsibility for balancing placing these Ukranian lives against something else.
