Looking from the outside, a second Scottish referendum on independence might be a useful 'lever' if there's any way to push forward the notion that the Scotts have a perfect right to go back to remaining in the EU if Brexit continues.

I'm making the assumption that some number of Brexit supporters might be more invested in an undivided United Kingdom than in being separated from the EU. But as I said, I'm very much on the outside looking in.

Disclaimer: I do think the Scotts have the right to chart their own course, particularly to the extent that their southern neighbors want to persist in this own-goal which seems to be at odds with the general consensus north of the border.
