No argument there. The Rus would be utterly screwed if they went against the full NATO technology stack.
The F16s are 'fighting the previous war' in the sense that had Ukraine had them in 2015 the Rus wouldn't have been able to grab territory beyond Crimea.
As it is, I see them as a way to forbid Ukranian airspace to Rus rotorcraft - which seem to be complicating clearing the Surovkin lines.
