Nice article! I got interested in this area as I’d had a brain infection (which came from a simple dental cleaning — not to nerve anyone out about getting that done). The diagrams on glial transport made things a lot clearer for me.
I can’t help but wonder how this plays with electro-sleep (AKA ‘Trans Cranial Electrical Stimulation’, AKA ‘Russian Sleep Machine’, interesting overview here). Short term TCES has been shown to help memory. One study here.
If TCES increases glial flow, it might be at least a palliative for Alzheimer’s patients.
