I used to think the 'm' in mTOR stood for mammalian. Turns out it's now 'mechanistic'. Dinosaur here - I had this same issue in the computer world with acronyms changing.

BTW/FWIW, there's another interesting compound, berberine , which is a similar slight mitochondrial ECT poison - but berberine also inhibits PCSK9 in the liver, which improves small LDL clearance. You mention that metformin also reduces hyperlipidemia - any idea of the mechanism involved? Also PCSK9 inhibition?
