just as important as what happens in your liver, if not more

I was just reading a study indicating that the aldehydes that are produced in the liver when alcohol is metabolized, besides being short-term damaging might trigger autoimmunity (like in MS to myelin producing cells) to liver cells. That study was in mice - so it may or may not apply to us, but women do seem to be more susceptible to autoimmune diseases (look at the MS stats) so it’s worth bearing in mind if you happen to be female. Came here thinking the article might be about this...

but I do know how to read.

Reading comprehension is kind of a superpower these days :-)
