It's unfortunate that instead of White and Black schools being merged, the Black students were integrated into White schools. That meant Black teachers were out of jobs and Black kids were being 'taught' by White teachers - many of which considered them 'inferior' which IMO guaranteed them an inferior education. I'm not saying that that was possible (I don't think it was) - just pointing out the cost to the Black community.
