It's clear that the RF wants the territory but would prefer to get rid of the population. Sigh.

Looking at this more globally, both Russian and Ukranian wheat (80MT and 33MT) is about to disappear from the world market. On top of that, nitrogen fertilizer is mostly made from natural gas so, the price rise meaning it's mostly not being produced and Russian and Belarusian potash (7.6MT / 7.4MT) will also likely disappear. Missing nitrogen fertilizer and potash means a lot of fields go back to pre-green-revolution productivity in the best case.

So... not only less food available for the 3rd world, but per-acre productivity will go down in those places.
