I'd expect that that was deliberate mis/disinformation from the US, concealing that the US could read Japanese encrypted dispatches.
Agreed 100% on ammunition supplies - but the West never expected to be supplying one side of a set of Russian style artillery saturation battles. Just look at how quickly Caesar units had to return for service (new tubes?). Any thoughts on whether the West actually *can* provide ammo at this rate?
