The people who crushed the Tamils are friends of the US exactly how? Given all the Russian oil going offline, there's going to be a shortage outside the Americas. The US is now a net exporter, but only just barely, and the US domestic reaction to rising fuel prices (even though they're less than half of what the Eastern hemisphere is paying) puts exporting oil to all our trading partners out of the question (Republicans would have a field day with that).

Agreed that there are a lot of resources going to Ukraine, but that's more about confronting a now-somewhat-resurrected old foe and supporting NATO, which the US has binding agreements with. It has no bearing on Sri Lanka.
