Interesting. I find vesselfinder.com a bit more illuminating as you can click on a ship icon, get info (flagging, tonnage, often a photo, last shore AIS station, listed destination). Both run on AIS (plus for a 'mere' USD1K/year, you can get 'more recent updates' from sat systems - and no, I don't have that kind of money - and I'd be surprised if Russian vessels have sat-AIS (it's more for companies like Maersk).
