There are probably thousands of people who have gotten themselves a third dose "under the radar". Looking at the news out of Israel, and knowing how... academic the CDC has gotten of late, there's no point in waiting for some kind of OK from on high. Look to Israel for data on complications from third shots.

When you go in for vaccination, there's no checking how many shots you'd had before - you just tell them. They don't turn people away - unless they're very clearly under 12.

That said, you might be the only person accidentally better immunized than most of us.
