I'm guessing that most-disliked 'turnip' is actually a rutabaga.

I thought I didn't like turnips-in-general.

Turns out I was wrong - not about disliking purple-top-yellow-flesh 'turnips' (still don't like 'em), but that all turnips had that same bitter note.

I was rescued from this misapprehension by a farmer at our local farmers' market about five years ago (thanks Arthur & Kira!) who persuaded me to try a white one. Those are really good raw.

If you don't like purple-top turnips, try the white ones.

The only other vegetable on your dislike-list that I don't often eat is the artichoke (too much work for too little food, even though it's a great excuse for eating a lot of butter).
