If your intent is to not disturb other campers, good on you. There's a considerably cheaper way to do that - there are low power red flashlights and headlamps intended for astronomers who need to be able to set up their gear without spoiling their night vision.

I sometimes do night sky photography, so have bought both types. I think I paid $8 for the flash (group of red LEDs in the front, no reflector - so diffuse light).
