If it had AC motors, then probably - although you'd need to have deep pockets to pay lawyers to defend it (e.g. Apple Music vs Apple Computers when the latter decided to go into the music business) or do it as a troll, see how much Tesla motors was willing to pay for your trademark. :-)

I'm not just surprised that they're applying for those now, but that there haven't been any of those trolls (particularly the toy motors where investment would not have been super-large).

I'm also surprised that the article writer thought that it was an indication that Tesla had plans for those things in the works...
