I'd guess the same. Reducing insulin resistance suggests one mechanism - but it doesn't permanently unblock the insulin-receptor to GLUT4 expression cascade. You might find Gerald Shulman's fMRI work on this cascade and the diglycerides that block it of interest.

Blocking the glucagon-to-DNG is potentially less confusing simply because there's so much going on there.

It's possible that metformin's helpful because so many people are already insulin resistant, similar to ivermectin being useful in areas where many people have low-grade parasitic infections (at least that's my take on it).

Agreed that our institutions need to follow the data. Metformin's cheap, and there's a huge amount of patient safety data, so, yeah. Those results have me considering getting a Rx from my Doc, just in case (still a Covid virgin here, trying to keep it that way).
