I sometimes wonder if Microsoft engineers before me felt the coverage of their company was unfair.

I worked at Lotus. We had a bug in one version of 1–2–3 that slipped through QA where rounding became truncation in some very rare situations. That issue landed on the WSJ front page (below the fold). I never heard an engineer on that project say it was ‘unfair’. ‘Unfortunate’, yes, but not ‘unfair’.
