I looked at emigrating to New Zealand when I was about 30 — mostly because I felt more ‘to home’ there than I did in anyplace in the US outside of New England — and New Zealand had a much more temperate climate — and enough ‘outdoors stuff’ to keep someone like me happy. As someone on the semi-far-Left in the US, I was center-Right there. Also there was a lot about NZ that made me think of an America the way it should have turned out.

They had a 'points' system for immigrants. I had a skill they wanted, but, at 30, I was too old. Sigh.
