Same here. I can't help but wonder if it's because I was myopic (near sighted) to the point of being legally blind - but they didn't catch it until I was in 5th grade. Being able to see the chalkboard - as opposed to having to remember what the teacher said - was a major revelation. Bright side: pretty sure what I lost in visualization I gained in verbal abilities.
