As best as I can tell, NAFLD comes from the stearic acid generated by de novo lipogenesis - which comes from simple sugars, particularly fructose via the hepatic portal vein, not dietary fats via chylomicrons via the lymph system. Agreed that simple overconsumption of dietary fats might lead to additional fat in the omentum - and output from those adipocytes has a direct shot at the liver. But simple dietary fat to NAFLD seems implausible.
