Greybeard here. There really was a time when a compile took an hour or two. If it was just me doing a module build — time to work on a side project (yeah, more code, but for a different architecture). If there were a couple of us, pingpong or, yes, nerf sword battles. If it was a full product build the whole team would be waiting, so we’d head over to the wallyball (like a cross between volleyball and handball) court. On the down side, those nights often turned into all-nighters, as a full build would often show problems.
