Gotta wonder if using toothpaste or gum with xylitol presents the same issue . Xylitol is a non-toxic sugar alcohol used as a low-caloric sweetener. It's toxic to pretty much everything non-human out there, including bacteria. Also no idea what it does to our microbiome if it's swallowed (i.e. gum not toothpaste/mouthwash).
