Go read Rick Wilson's 'Running Against the Devil’. We have to keep the election a referendum on the orange incompetent in office. He’s plenty stupid, but he has a lot of smart people in his campaign who will pick over any substantial policy statement to find something that can be demonized in the swing states. Hell, they had Rs believing that Clinton and Podesta were running come kind of child prostitution ring out of a pizza parlor basement — and that pizza parlor didn’t even have a basement. They’ve turned the Green New Deal (jobs and non-carbon-energy infrastructure) into “they will take away our cars and our hamburgers”.

Step 1: remove the orange clown, whether he’s willing or not

Step 2: fight over whatever progressive policies (and, yes, I’m 100% on the same page with you there) need to be instituted. Given the way the economy is cratering into a new great depression, we’re gonna need those.

Step 3: do whatever’s needed to stop burning the planet down.

If you look at steps 2 and 3, we have two problems that might be used to solve each other. People need jobs. Find something in step 3 that also provides jobs, like maybe build a non-carbon-energy infrastructure.
