Given what happened (drone operators unaware of 'deconfliction' status of World Central Kitchen convoy status) I'm not sure holding the generals in charge responsible counts as throwing them under the bus.
I think more aid coming has something to do with the Biden administration reading them the riot act. All that's been behind closed doors, but I'd read it as 'fix this or we start reevaluating aid and access to military hardware'. I'm more concerned about the Israeli strike on Iranian buildings in Syria. When the Gaza invasion started, the Biden administration put a lot of effort into making sure it didn't become a more general conflagration. If the Israelis manage to screw that up, they're going to lose the few supporters they still have in the White House.
More generally, the US has been backing away from involvement in the Middle East. There's still a need for an ally in the area, but given the way the right wing has captured control of Israel, that ally might not be Israel. Turkey's looking pretty good right now.
Without getting into US domestic politics...
