FWIW, we rely on quantum effects just to be alive. nothing woo-woo here; the protein complexes that make up the electron transport chain in our mitochondria pass electrons using a quantum effect. No quantum effect (e.g. from mismatched proteins not fitting together closely enough) no electron flow. No electron flow, no proton pumping. No proton differential across the membrane, no ATP. No ATP and we're done.
