As someone who started on 120mm (what's now called medium format) I'd have to disagree. You get a lot more latitude, even when guessing at exposures, at least for negatives. Transparencies were fussier. I switched to 35mm because it was quite a bit cheaper - and I was a student without much money.

I've disconnected from the film world, but I'm wondering: can you still buy unexpired Agfa Scala?
