That said, the situations (then and just now) are quite different. Instead of a set of empires carefully kept in balance by Metternich, and then a bit rudderless at his passing, we have the EU and the RF - which are not balanced but in a (IMO temporary) state of one-sided war; the RF is at war with the EU, but the EU is not at war with the RF.
