The ability to swallow without getting anything down the trachea goes away (epiglottal control mostly) eventually - so pneumonia. Also personal hygiene, leading to UTIs and skin issues. The lack of short term memory means a UTI might become fatal, a skin issue ulcerous.

I've seen it up close; I'd rather go almost any other way.
