FWIW, we in the West know nitrogen tetroxide as hydrazine. As I remember, some early US ICBMs were fueled with it. I've visited one of the old launch sites, now decommissioned, and there were what looked like old-skool space suits (like you'd see in a 60s era SciFi flick) for the people who had to get up close and personal with the rocket.
