Looking at the midterm results, it looks as though the Dems did well in states where either democracy itself was at risk (election denier candidate) or women's rights were at risk (reproductive rights on the ballot one way or the other). If you look at Virginia, where neither of these were the case, the Dems performed about the way you'd expect it to go for a party in power during the mid-terms.

As far as 'spotting the crazy, we're seeing a generational change; younger people are online 'natives', and, as such they have a better shot at seeing disinformation for what it is. And younger voters have done what many of us have despaired of them doing: lots of them voted, possibly because of Dobbs. If you're one of those people and you voted, thank you, thank you, thank you...
